In May, our National Implementing Partner SAHAJ conducted a 2-day training about the SDGs with their partner SEWA in Ahmedabad, India.

Equal Measures 2030’s National Influencing Partner in India is SAHAJ (Society for Health Alternatives). In May 2019, SAHAJ conducted a two-day training on the SDGs, in collaboration with the SEWA (Self-Employed Women’s Association) Academy in Ahmedabad. Almost two dozen participants, which included grassroots trainers, researchers and communicators, learnt about the overall SDG framework, the goals and targets, as well as relevant state and national level policies and programmes.

The goals were selected based on the requirements given by SEWA Academy. These included SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions).

Participants learnt how to use the Gender Advocates’ Data Hub during the sessions and were eager to return to work and link their current activities with the SDGs targets and indicators.

Some feedback from participants

“Got good information related to SDGs. Got to know about the 17 goals which we didn’t know earlier. I had experience but didn’t have the knowledge on how to link with specific goal.”

“Helpful training because we could link SDGs with our work at SEWA and what indicators need to be seen to achieve our goal.”

“Liked the gender tracker and history of SDGs.”
